Cactus Now Offering -40C to +85C MLC Flash Storage Products

Cactus has been asked over the past few years for MLC NAND based Flash Storage Devices which could meet an Industrial Operating Temperature range of -40C to +85C. After significant efforts in R&D, we’ve developed a production screening process which allows us to offer extended temperature using MLC NAND on select products.

At this moment our latest 240S Series Commercial Grade 2.5” SATA III SSD and mSATA as well as our 240 Series Commercial Grade SD Card have an optional extended temp range. We are planning to release a 240S Series MLC CFast and M.2 form factor with wider temp option shortly.

The Cactus proprietary production process involves a custom built burn-in chamber with many slots to screen large numbers of flash storage devices at a time. The burn-in chamber is coupled with a specially designed in-house software program with routines to determine which MLC devices are capable of supporting extended temperature.

While MLC NAND based flash storage devices are intended for applications which do not have high write endurance requirements, they still may be used in an environment with extreme temperatures. The Cactus offering addresses these requirements.

Industrial Temp mSATA MLC

240S Series MLC mSATA Industrial Temp:

  • 8GB to 256GB
  • High Shock & Vibration of 3000G and 30G respectively
  • Optional -40C to 85C Operating Temperature Range
Industrial Temp SD Card MLC

240 Series MLC SD Card Industrial Temp:

  • 4GB to 128GB
  • Sequential Read/Write of 80 & 40MB/sec respectively
  • Optional -40C to 85C Operating Temperature Range
